FINNISH SCHOOL FIRST OF MAY CELEBRATION

First of May will be celebrated again this year at the Ullanlinnanmäki of Sydney, namely the North Sydney Oval Park. The party starts on Sunday 1 May at 2pm near the childrens' playground area next to the BBQs. Bring along your wappu drinks and food, whistles, horns, balloons and other gadgets, Finnish white caps and your wappu spirit!

Featuring "springy" sing-alongs and playing kyykkä. So you don't know what kyykkä is, come along and find out what is a mölkky and a karttu. Bring your friends too! For the rules, please see: http://butler.cc.tut.fi/~kyykka/saannot.html (sorry, Finnish only).

WEST SYDNEY FINNISH CLUB

West Sydney Finnish Club celebrates its 35th Anniversary on Saturday 16 October at Parramatta Town Hall. Entertainment will be provided by a 32 member Folkdance and music group visiting from Finland. They will perform a few folkdances and then perform dance music for everyone to dance to throughout the evening.

YOUNG FINNS

An informal group for young Finns - both tourists and locals - has started meeting on Thursday evenings once a month in various pubs in the Sydney CBD. If you are interested in joining in, please contact Riku Aho on 0400 351327 or riku.aho@iki.fi

ANNIVERSARY CABARET

The Finnish Society of Sydney is celebrating its 75th anniversary by organizing a Cabaret on 30th October at 7pm in Ashfield's Polish Club. Tickets are now available from Tuula Huttunen (home: 02-99057386, mob: 040-8964 404) at a price of $25/non-members, $20/members and seniors, $10/children under 16 years.
